Green Your Beauty Routine!

ISF Environment: Green Your Beauty Routine

When it was time to resupply my makeup products, I realized that I had no idea what I was putting in my bag or on my face! It was time to change that. Every day, there are people using some form of skincare, many of which are not very eco-friendly. Can you imagine if everyone chose products that cared for the planet as well as their complexions? Here are seven companies I found that do both:

Josie Maran Cosmetics

JMC creates its products using cruelty-free, fair trade methods, and sustainably harvested ingredients. The makeup and packaging are recyclable, biodegradable, and are formulated without parabens, synthetic fragrances, phthalates, or sulfates.

And with any purchase, you help JMC preserve Argan forests in Morocco, save polar bears, or support Moroccan women’s co-ops, or even donating to ISF! Our fearless founder, Ian Somerhalder, was Josie Maran’s Model Citizen of 2013, and a portion of sales of any model citizen product came straight to ISF! JMC also participates in Carbonfund.org to help counterbalance their footprint.

Tarte Cosmetics

Tarte, a brand that totes pure and powerful products, uses “skinvigorating” ingredients like superfruits, vitamins, minerals, and essential oils in all their products. Their makeup is vegan, cruelty-free, and is formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, gluten, and sodium lauryl sulfate.

Tarte also supports cooperatives in the Amazonian Rainforest, women’s health organizations, and is always looking to develop eco-friendly and healthy programs.

Boscia

Boscia skincare is preservative-free, animal product and cruelty-free, 100% gluten-free, and noncomedogenic, meaning they do not clog pores. They are botanically based and produced in the purest of manufacturing environments. Almost all Boscia products contain Jojoba oil and Willowherb, but all them do not have any ethanol alcohol, bactericides, synthetic fragrances and colorants, and mineral oils.

Adorn Cosmetics

Adorn creates makeup that is vegan, non-toxic, and cruelty-free. They use all-natural, pure mineral and organic ingredients in their products and employ earth–friendly product refills. Things you won’t see in any of their goods are talc, palm oil, parabens, artificial fragrances, dimethicone, gluten, carmine & ferric ferrocyanide, or the use of nanotechnology!

100% Pure

Just like its name, this brand produces 100% pure products for hair, skin, and even babies! With as much as 60% of skin-care products getting absorbed into our bloodstream, 100% Pure makes it a priority to leave out toxic ingredients like synthetic chemicals, fragrances and colours, chemical preservatives, harsh detergents, emulsifiers, or any other unhealthy toxins. It’s cruelty-free, vegan, and uses fruit pigments to infuse antioxidants and vitamins into every product.

Vapour Organic Beauty

Not only is Vapour organic, it also creates products that are cruelty-free, biodegradable, and uses sustainable manufacturing practices. All their products are free of chemicals, irradiation, nanoparticles, gluten, GMO’s, water, petrochemicals, fillers, synthetic fragrances and colours, talc, dimethicone, sulfates, phthalates and more!

Alima Pure Cosmetics

You’ll find no parabens, chemicals, gluten, dyes and nanoparticles here; just all-natural minerals, safe, eco-friendly ingredients and environmentally friendly, socially responsible production methods and materials. Alima is cruelty-free, certified natural through BDIH, and participates in Carbonfund.org and 1% for the Planet.

You see, beauty doesn’t have to compromise your health or the Earth’s!
