Imagine suffering from a possible life threatening condition and you pee’d outside your litter box. Instead of your family investigating the cause of the problem, you’re constantly being surrendered back to a shelter. This is what happened to poor Samson, an 8-year old male American Shorthair Cat.
Samson is a beautiful and friendly cat who will greet anyone with a purr and lavish you with love and attention. The fact this furry angel had been surrendered three times without anyone investigating his health and wellbeing is a mystery. Nevertheless, this cute little man was surrendered to Cat Depot where his health examination took place. It was determined he had a severe case of kidney stones and was referred to a specialist for further testing.
Dr. Goodman, from Blue Pearl, investigated further and it was discovered Samson had Nephrolithiasis (Kidney Stones) with at least one Ureteroliths (A stone or calculus in the ureter.) Samson was placed on a Royal Canin diet on April 15, 2016 and also given a Convenia injection (Injectable Antibiotic).
Samson was then placed in a foster home where he could be closely monitored. Every 2-3 months, Samson must be tested to make sure his urine and blood levels are correct and his kidney is functioning properly.
Samson has now been officially adopted by his foster family along with another Cat Depot friend. Together, Samson and his family have moved to Europe. There was a time where it was a possibility he wouldn’t survive and now he is living happily on the other side of the world.
